10 Things From Brazil That I Miss and 10 Things That I Don’t 4

This is a picture of the sunset sunrise on a beach located in Sao Paulo state where my father built a front beach house. My family and I used to spend great holidays in that place. This photo brings back the best memories of my childhood.

Saudade

Life pulls us
like a great tidal wave
sweeping us forward
dragging us into the perpetual present.
Our memories of this moment
will change and be shaped
by new desires and disappointments.

And I will forget I knew even this.

10 Things I miss from Brazil:

10 Things I do not miss from Brazil.

  • Violence.
  • Corrupt politicians.
  • Social difference.
  • Children begging in the streets.
  • Gerson’s law (A social regulation that is widely accepted: it’s okay to bribe, cheat and take advantage of every situation).
  • High taxes.
  • Compulsory voting.
  • Work a lot and earn a little.
  • Colonial mentality.
  • Carnival.
