Paradise Lost AKA Turistas

We saw the horror film Paradise Lost, also known as Turistas. From my point of view it is a bit funny. In my mind it didn’t make sense, ok I’ll explain, a great part of the film was shot in a beach called Promirim which is in Ubatuba, a small town in the coast of Sao Paolo state in Brazil. I have been going to that area since I was 6 months of age to spend holidays, the place is absolutely gorgeous and the locals, who are called caiçaras, are very nice (caiçaras are the people who live in the southern part of the Atlantic Forest coast). Going to that place means sunny days, happiness and surfing, simply nothing to do with terror. The only thing I enjoyed in that film was the landscape, I have to say I miss those beaches in Sao Paolo. Some brazilians tried to boycott Paradise Lost when it was released alleging it showed a distorted image of their country. Ok, I agree, there are all sorts of absurdities in this film, but so what? Do you believe everything you see in the movies or on TV? Perhaps Fred Krueger does exist! 🙂
Just to finish this post, in our impartial brazilian opinion the film is a 5 on a scale from 1 to 10.
