Military Beach in Salvador, Bahia
We went to a military beach yesterday. It’s a private beach for military personnel and civilians who are staying in our hotel. The beach has a lovely natural swimming pool and all the infra-structure such as bar, restaurant, chairs and parasols. The waiters are soldiers and the service is great, the caipirinha is very good and we enjoyed the landscape immensely. On the way back as we left the military grounds I asked our driver if the buildings were barracks and he said the area was a military hotel, he also explained that any person who has a connection with any military officer could stay there. I don’t know if it’s a new thing, but my father has never mentioned this fact before, perhaps because he was not a person who was into tourism, or perhaps because had already travelled extensively in Brazil as a Major from Air Force. I thought it was great because we’ve just found out we can stay in several hotels run by the Brazilian army in the country, better late than never. 🙂
I was at this beach, guarded by armed guards, treated like a demi god and the food and drink was 1/2 the normal price – you would have to love the Brazilian Army! Bless them!
