As I said, last week I upgraded my handset, every time I buy a new gadget I also upgrade my son’s and to make the things easier we always get the same model.
I’ve already posted in this blog my opinion about SIM lock. I defend the idea that when we buy a mobile phone we have the right to do whatever we want with it. Since I don’t think it’s fair to have the handset locked by the network provider I always unlock all mobile phones as we buy them, locked handsets are not allowed in this house as a principle
.Believe it or not, I have been unlocking all mobile phones myself but when I decided to buy Sony Ericsson models the thing became complex and I couldn’t do it on my own any more. I googled for mobile phone unlocking services in Ireland and got some results. Ray phoned some places to ask for the price of the service and I was shocked! I had 4 Sony Ericsson to be unlocked at €25 each, €100 total, a joke! Charging this much for unlocking the device is as bad as selling it locked.
I am an O2 customer in Ireland and I decided to e-mail them and ask for the unlock codes for the 4 Sony Ericsson, and to my surprise, they answered promptly and supplied me with all the information I needed to proceed with the unlocking, I thought it was great and I have to say, in despite of some network outages, I am very happy with O2.
When I lived in Brazil and was about to move to Ireland I asked TIM Brasil to supply me with the unlock codes for the 2 Siemens mobile phones we had and they took ages to answer, I remember well the number of times I went to a TIM store in the Morumbi Shopping Center in Sao Paolo to try to sort it out before I moved overseas, and in the end I unlocked those phones myself because of their inaction. The good thing was, I learned lots about mobile phone unlocking.
I’m sorry but comments are closed for this post.

Could you unlock my mobile. Its a sony ericsson k850i. i bought it off ebay from england and was told that it was unlocked to every network when buying it but when i received it I realized it was locked to vodafone uk but i am with vodafone ireland. please help me

@Tommy If the Ebay seller told you it was unlocked the best thing to do is to give the mobile phone back and ask for a refund. An alternative is to ring or email vodafone in the UK (www.vodafone.co.uk) and ask for the unlock code and the instruction on how to input the code.

@Tim thanks for visiting the blog. You need to contact O2 IRL, they will give your unlock code and the instructions on how to input the code free of charge if you tell them you are visiting a country such as Venezuela where O2 doesnt have a roaming agreement with.
