When I joined the university in 1982 as a graduate engineer, there were only 10 girls in the class of 625 students. When I was 13 years old and I decided to begin surfing, as far as I can remember, I was the only girl on the waves with a surfboard and when I started my guitar lessons, again, I was the only girl in the neighbourhood who had a dream of learning to play electric guitar like Jimmy Page 🙂
Thank goodness things have changed and nowadays engineering, surfing and electric guitar are no longer exclusively for men.
So to celebrate International Women’s Day I’m posting two videos, the first one on female surfers and the other is about a female guitarist.
